1 Ball Moving Drill
Purpose
Players practice dribbling with one ball.
Drill Setup
Players line up along the baseline with a basketball. Place cones for the players at the free throw line extended.
How It Works
Players dribble from the baseline to the halfcourt line with their right hand and dribble back from the halfcourt line to the baseline with their left.
- Phase 1: Players dribble forward, hesitate at the cone and then dribble the rest of
the way. - Phase 2: Players slide, slide again and then take off.
- Phase 3: Players perform a crossover dribble at the cone.
- Phase 4: Players perform an inside-out move at the cone – they lean in and then break back out keeping the basketball in the same hand.
- Phase 5: Players dribble between the legs at the cone.

Players execute moves while dribbling with one ball.
Coaching Tips
Players should be dribbling with their opposite arm up as if warding off an imaginary defender.
Dribblers should be keeping the ball low.
On the inside-out move, the hand should be kept on top of the ball to avoid a palming violation.
When dribbling between the legs, players have to slow down to execute the move.
