• Punch In and Punch Out Drill

  • Purpose

Players learn to pass into the post and out of the post.

  • Drill Setup

One player is in the post with a defender on his back. One player is on the wing with a defender between him and the post.

  • How It Works

    1. Wing player passes into the post and relocates to receive a pass back from the post player.
    2. The drill continues in this fashion until the coach says to stop.
    3. Players then switch – offense becomes defense and defense becomes offense – and the drill is run again.
    4. The player defending the post does not try to steal the ball.

The post and the wing pass the ball back and forth to each other.

  • Coaching Tips

Play the “bigs” and “littles” both inside and out so that they can learn to play all spots.
